Child Domain Creation. help

By Gussss ·
I just installed a child domain call test.anydomain.com from a parent domain (anydomain.com). The installation was very straight forward and simple, however, all I see is the builtin accounts I don't see my (active directory) users/computers on the new domain, therefore no one gets authenticated from the new domain, I can see my new child domain from the parent domain and vice-versa, all my permissions are for full access, my trust relationships are two way but yet I can't replicate (populate my new domain) what am I missing, please help!

A domain is a security boundry in AD (just like NT4). Users and Computer in your parent domain, stay in your parent domain. You would create new accounts in the child. Accounts are available through the trust relationship, but a user in the parent domain, cannot "log onto" the child domain. They would be able to use resources through the two-way transitive trust, but their accounts only reside within one domain.
Please let me know if I havent addressed your question correctly.

You can use the movetree command line utility to move users between domains in forests. If all the 800 users are in the same OU you can move the entire OU in one command line. On your parent AD server go to the cmd and type movetree /?. And just follow an example.
