CHM file conversion

By tcsnetwork ·
I have just downloaded xp device error codes file and it asked me to rename it from .txt file to .chm and just double click on it. I renamed it correctly but it opens in code instead of a readable format. How do i convert it correctly?

A chm file is a compiled html windows help file.

I have to ask you how you renamed the file?

Lots of times we see people use windows explorer to rename the file but that does always change the extension on the file.

If you look, you may find that the file is now named .chm.txt and not .chm

The easiest way to fix it, is to go out to a command prompt and rename the file inside the dos window.
