Choose to use OST instead of Exchange

by ttittle . Updated 24 years, 2 months ago

We’ve come up with users who utilize PDA’s to synch. with MS Outlook 2000. Our problem is that when they are online the synchronization process is taking a long time. When using the OST the process is much quicker and allows the user to synch and go. Here’s the solution we found but would like other suggestions or utilities:

The default is “Automatically Detect Connection State”. Change this to: “Manually Control Connection State” and check the box next to “Choose the Connection Type when Starting” > Apply > OK.

When you open Outlook there’s an Exchange Server box that asks you if you want to “Connect” or “Work Offline”. If you choose “Work Offline” the OST is opened. It doesn’t matter whether you’ve signed onto the Network, your NIC is enabled, or CAT5 is plugged in, you are using your OST and can then synch your Palm to your OST (a lot faster).

Thank you
