choosing a backup software

By mgkw ·
I have a small nt client based system, sql and exchange.. I need to get new backup software and nowhere can I find one that promises 100% to be exchange aware. I am currently using a test version of Veritas Backup exec but am getting messages from Dr Watson about vmimb.dbg application error and I am not convinced it is not the software.

The current Release for Backup Exec for Windows NT v8.5, is revision 3571.
It?s very important you get the last release.
With this realease it can support
-Microsoft SQL 2000
-Microsoft Exchange 2000

A amazing feature is the incredible "Intelligent Disaster Recovery" (IDR) for Microsoft Windows 2000. IDR Now support
- One Button Disaster Recovery (OBDR) for Windows 2000 (tape)
- CD-R support
an more features that you can read in http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/231875.htm

Other Backup software I used to sell is ARCServe 2000. It?s low price made it, very interesting in a Mid-Range networks with a few server (4 - 10). It?s Disaster Recovery is less "automatic" that Veritas?s IDR

TSM for Workgroups, is IBM?s choise for low NT environmet.

If you don't want to invest in a package like Arcserve, you may want to take a look at Yosemite Technologies Tapeware at tapeware.com.

not sure what you mean by 100% exchange aware, but i use Arcserve with the exchange option and i can back up everything on exchange.

i have deleted mailboxes and public folders and messages and then restored them individually with no problem.
