    Choosing SUN & COMPAQ Alpha Servers

    Hi

    Can any one pl tell me Which servers are better performers when it comes to mission critical data processesing SUN E – 4500, or Compaq ES-40 Alpha servers.And which vendor gives better service.

      Hi there,

      I was looking into this myself a few months ago and found a very good site called http://www.spec.org who provide specint results for all servers. The ES40 came out much better in all the tests I found and I have also found them very good for any queries I have had. One thing that cooncerned me about the SUN server was the lack of ECC memory which over recent weeks ahs become quite a highlited issue with them. If this is mission critical I personally would avoid purchasing SUN until they correct this problem and also until the memory has been in use for a while just in case any other issues arise.
