Cisco 2600 Router - Jacked up

By howithink ·
I think i F'ed up my router. The old admin had set a password which no one knows. I am new to this job and so i needed to login to make few changes to the router and so i followed the Cisco password reset instructions:

rommon1> confreg 0x2142
rommon2> reset

Now when the router reboots all i get is wiered characters and i cannot do anything. Any help would be apprecaited. I am in desperate need.

thanks,
S.

Issue resolved

by howithink In reply to Cisco 2600 Router - Jacke ...

I figured it out with the help of Rick from Cisco forums and David from happyrouter.com. The issue was that my terminal baud speed was set to high. It must have reset it self when I made changes to the router. In the future if someone experiences any similar issues, simply start off with the lowest baud rate 300 and work your way up. One of those speeds will fix your issues. Thank you both Rick and David for your generous and prompt responses.
