Cisco ASA 5505/GMAIL POP not working on a MAC

By maluch74 ·
There seems to be a problem with MACs only, PCs connect fine, would there be any specific ports that I need to open at the firewall level. Anyone ever came across this issue?

If the PCs work, you've got the right ports open.

MacMail can be tricky to configure if the ISP uses (or does not use) SMTP Authentication. I nearly went insane trying to get some 0sx 10.4 boxes talk to ATt&T via mac mail.

Can you ping both pop and smtp servers from mac?

can you telnet to pop server on port 25 and send mail from the mac?
(telnet is great diagnostics aid for email)

Be careful about deleting mac mail profiles as all archived user emails will get deleted too.
