cisco home lab

Hi all,
I am building a cisc lab and I try to work on a scenario where I want to connect 3 1900 switches together via fast ethernet using a crossover cable. What do I need to in order to have them comunicate? I also have to two 2500 routers, but for now I want to use only one. Do I need VTP?
