Cisco Newbie

Hi all,

I am a network admin for a small Windows 2000 network. We just switched ISPs and went from a fractional T1 to a full T1. However, my boss decided to do a speed test and the results are far from a T1 connection; it's more like DSL/Cable..What gives?

I am contacting the ISP tomorrow morning, but I've decided to post a question here to see if anybody has come across this problem. Unfortunately this is my first time working with a Cisco router (1721 model) and do not have any experience with it (yet!)
any help is really appreciated!
Any links in Cisco administration for dummies like me??

Hi,I believe there is not much to do with the CISCO router in this case...First you have to check the way you did the speed tests. If its from the sites like then it depends on various aspects..if you r downloading from a FTP you have to consider the load on the server and its uplink BW...and the T1 Pipe Line ISPs offers is the Pipe Line between Customer and the ISPs NOC..So if your ISP is not BW rich you may not get the adv speed...
If you want to check CISCO Prduct doc there is the and check in'll have tons n tons of doc..
best regards
