Cisco router 2610 issue

By edpactdir ·
My Network Admin. needs to change the current router "password" configuration because the previous network administrator setup the "password" to appear while it is being entered! I believe this scenario to be a security risk and would appreciate anyassistance in correcting the situation! Thanks in advance to anyone out there with the resolution!!!

the echo of the password is not an option in the cisco router. It is an option on your access program. Try to use another program to telnet or console into the machine. If you are using regular telnet, then from a command prompt run "telnet" and "u localecho" to disable local echo on 2000. NT uses a GUI, find it.

Ooops, sorry that I was not clear on where the telnet app. was being launched! We are telneting from IBM Info/Window II workstations and/or the IBM PC V4R4 Client Access to an AS/400 720 system running V4R5 OS to the Cisco 2610 router. Thanks again for your assistance!!!
