Cisco VPN Client Download?

By racegirl78834 ·
I am trying to download the Cisco VPN Client to my wireless Dell. It has Windows 7 64bit OS. I keep getting an "inter process communication" error. I have disabled ICS both under the services menu and adapter settings. I have also made sure the VLAN Priority was disabled.
Does anyone know a fix for this?

IPC errors with the Cisco VPN client happen when the GUI cannot talk to the service.

Are you logged in as administrator? Are you running the app with full admin privileges (i.e. runas admin).

The VPN app must be able to create a raw socket connection, which requires root-level access AND is very virus-like. Do you have anti-virus or personal firewall software installed? I would try it with those disabled and/or uninstalled.

I admit I am not an expert on Win7, but in general it can be tricky to enable raw packet support on some Windows operating systems.**86a00801c2dbe.shtml

Thank you. I am running as admin and have tried disabling both anti-virus and Windows firewall to no avail.

Without having to rebuild your PC.....

Sometimes disabling AV software is not enough, it needs to be removed. I've seen cases where the AV modules interfere with inter-process communication.

As an experiment, I would load up a program which uses raw packets, such as nmap or WireShark. The VPN client has to have FULL control over the LAN adapter, and in your case, the problem is the security features of the OS and/or AV application are stopping that.

What version of the Cisco VPN client are you running?
Did this ever work, or is this a new install?
