    Cisco VPN Client Installation Error 1722

    When installing my Cisco VPN Client (5.0.05) software on a new laptop, I get an error 1722

    Error 1722: There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

    Help would be greatly appreciated.

      How are you installing it? You can’t install it across the network since it interupts network connectivity when it creates the virtual connection.

      To fix this (on Vista in my example) you need:
      1) Go to Services, find Cisco service, logon tab, uncheck “Interact with desktop” check box. Restart service. This will allow to start Cisco client service.
      2) Set Everyone full control to %SystemRoot%\System32\vpnapi.dll. Run VPN client
