Cisco VPN client with NAT

By jgi ·
Hello everybody
We have Cisco router 805 with NAT. So we have one official IP address and 10 internat IP addresses. We need to connect to our partner using Cisco VPN client (I'm using version 4.0.3.D) I cannot connect to VPN server when behind router. Using dial-up it works just fine. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you

It depends on what device you are connecting to at the far end. If it is a Cisco 3000 series VPN Concentrator, then you should be able to use IPSec with NAT traversal using TCP or UDP (see Cisco docs online). If this is not the case, why not use the 805 router to establish the IPSec tunnel with the remote router/firewall? You may have to upgrade the IOS version to support IPSec VPN but it would mean you could eliminate the need for the software client because the router will control encryption/decryption to and from the remote site. Cisco's web site has lots of docs on how to do this.
