Cisco VPN, WinXP and Vaio Laptops

By JoeD007 ·
In June of 2005, we experienced some VPN issues. All of our Sony Vaio laptops running WinXP Pro would no longer connect to our VPN. Sometimes the connections is established, but the resources on the other side of the connection cannot be accessed. Sometimes no connection can be made.

We are using Cisco client 4.0. All other users of the VPN are connecting.

We have uninstalled and re-installed the client several times. Turned off the firewall. No resolution at this point.

Does anyone have an idea as to what may have happened?

We've had similar horrible problems with vaio's. they seem ok for home use but have major problems with networking for some reason. our solution after trying to resolve with sony was to replace them with something else.

A few more questions. How are they trying to connect via wire or wireless, dsl or cable? I've seen this problems many times with wireless and at times both the laptop and the wireless router need updated drivers and/or firmware. If it's through their wired connection try to update the driver/firware on their NIC.
