CISSP Study Materials

CISSP Study Materials
I am embarking on the path of obtaining the CISSP certification, but I am unble to afford any of the the study materials presently. Can anyone be so kind as to provide me these materials or point me to cost-free resources online or through the government? I am a 25 yr old female, and I've heard that my specie is quite rare in this field, so I need all the help and mentoring I can get.

I look forward to getting some positive feedback.

CISSP Certification

by BFilmFan In reply to CISSP Study Materials

Unless they have changed the rules, you are going to need to have to meet the following requirement to sit for the exam:

Have a minimum 4 years of direct full-time security professional work experience in one or more of the ten domains of the information systems security CBK

-Or-

3 years experience plus a college degree

-Or-

2 years experience plus a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree in Information Security from a Center of Excellence.

Centers of Excellence are listed here:
https://www.isc2.org/cgi-bin/centersofexcellence.cgi

You may want to investigate the SSCP certification, if you do not meet the requirements to sit for the CISSP.

Casopasl,

I would start with isc2.org to get their "study guide" on the 10 domains.

In terms of books, the two that are the most recommended is the All in one by Shon Harris and/or The CISSP exam guide (gold edition) by Krutz. Both can be found on Amazon. Although I usually find bookpool.com has them beat on most books.

One of the better websites out there is cccure.org. They even have a practice exam (or they did when I was studying for it) that probably resembles the real test. But trust me, I've not seen anything as frustrating as the real one.

As for the demographics, I'm not sure what the cross-section is.. but I happen to work with more female CISSPs than male ones at my company.

Good luck.

Try this one

by Aldanatech In reply to CISSP Study Materials

CISSP certification training can be quite expensive these days. Personally I am not aware of any "quality" cost-free resources, but a relatively inexpensive resource could be CISSP for Dummies. At $39.99 or less, it cover all the objectives of the exam. As an extra, I would suggest you compliment your study with some related hands-on experience.

If you cannot assume official security related responsibilities at this point, you can try providing free security enhancements services to non-profit organizations that have a network, and try to apply as much from the book and your own experience as possible. I hope somebody can provide you with a better alternative, but just in case that doesn't happen then this could be a good place to start.

I see others are assisting.........but I thought I'd just wish you luck!!

Yes, the reason your species is lacking representation is because some our our specie was lacking some intelligence at some point in evolution.....I like to believe the defective units have since been repaired. :-)

Good luck & have fun!
