Citrix drive mappings

By allthegoodnamesweregone ·
Citrix is about to be deployed here, and I have a couple quick questions, since I'm a total Citrix retard.

1. Citrix/terminal server is going to need to map back to the c$ share on the client machines for this application to work. Admin rights are needed to access that share. Will the users need local admin rights to the box or will citrix create it's own account with admin rights when the client is installed?

2. Basically an extension of the above question. I'm concerned about the ports that will need to be open for those drives to be mapped. will it all run via the client and all stay on 1494, or will 137 and 139 need to be open between the client and the server?

The users will either need rights or a service account will need to be be created that ghas admin permissions.

It will run from the Citrix server to the client machines. The only thing going out to clients should be keystrokes, mouse movement and video screens.

Thanks for the response.

Will the option to use a service account exist in Citrix or will this have to be done through login scripts? giving the users admin rights is out of the question.

Also wanted to clarify that 2nd question. When the server maps the drive to c$ on the client machine, will all of that traffic stay on the citrix session on 1494 or will 137/139 need to be open for these drives to map correctly?

By default, when users connect to Citrix or Terminal Services, the client PCs C drive is mapped as V$ on the server. No special rights are required for that to happen.

The only port required is the default Citrix port, 1494.
