A Novell 4.11 shop (12 servers) is moving to citrix. The NT 4.0 side has 3 servers now, IIS, SQL and Citrix on Win2k Advanced server. Eventually we’ll need 10-12 Citrix servers(Dell 4400 rack mounts, 2 gig ram 2 drives.)The plan is to go to terminals and hand helds devices. And let the PC’s fade away. All user data and printers are Novell based. Do I go with NDS for NT? Or AD?

This depends on how much MS-centric app development they’re doing right now. The problem with W2K Server (including Terminal Services) is that ADS cannot fully be replaced by NDS. NDS on W2K does not redirect the ADS requests, it synchronises with ADS by DirXML.
If the customer DOES have apps that use ADS intensively, like _some_ SQL Server or IIS apps, NDS as an extra would not give much benefit. ADS, with temporary sync to NDS by MS tools, would be better.
However if the customer has more open apps,
e.g. Notes or GroupWise and generic LDAP authentication on SQL and IIS, then probably NDS will pay off. In that case, use ADS only
for the bare minimum required by Windows and add all intelligence to NDS.

      Hope this helps,
