CITRIX - PRINTER REBOOTS WORKSTATION

By jgreer ·
A client using Citrix client reboots whenever it prints to our server. I have reinstalled the printer driver with the lastest files and still no improvements. Any ideas?

have your tried another (generic?) printer driver. what service pack on 2k? did it always do this? what changed? anything in event log. check settings for automatic reboot on error. (don't have 2k in front of me, think it is My Computer/Properties/Performance or Advanced or thereabouts. turn off so you can get blue screen on error. make note of exact error message and search knowledgebase at support.microsoft.com. can you monitor resources and see them plunge just before reboot i wonder. have you checked for viruses and have you used msconfig to test for software conflicts?
here is what i would do
i would note 2k sp/patch level on ws
i would note anti-virus status
i would note Startup stuff in msconfig
i would note if happens with ANY printer and only happening from THIS wkstation?
i would look in event log on ws and server
i would search mskb for this issue
i don't know about application server environment
i would check out amount of free defragged hd space on 2k ws.
good luck

We had the same problem. When printing the Citrix client or server rebooted. Sometimes both.

It turned out to be a problem with the printer drivers. When using PLC6 drivers the problems occured. We then changed to PCL5e drivers and we are happy Citrix users ever since.

Hope this helps, good luck.
