Do Start, Run. Type msconfig and click OK. Go to the Startup tab in Msconfig. Look at everything that's there and remove things you don't need.

Or, if you'd like to do it manually..... open RegEdit and look in the following keys.....

Run and RunServices keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
Also check Run and RunServices here:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
Open the Explorer and look here:
C:\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Finally, check your AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS on the C drive.

Remember, doing this stuff manually may be hazardous to your health. Theutility mentioned above will do all of this and allows you to undo your edits if you don't like the changes.

Click on Start/Run and type MSCONFIG.

Go to the startup tab and you will be able to deselect all those nasty little thing that run at startup!

Hope it helps!
