    Clean Up

    Locked

    by john.cb1 ·

Can anyone tell me the best software to use to get rid of rubbish files. Files that are left over from after a program has been uninstalled, including in the registry.

Also a software that speeds up Windows, internet downloads.

Norton Cleansweep is pretty good at getting rid of redundant files etc. This link will get you to some more information about it. That said, it works best if you have it installed BEFORE installing the program you later want to remove.

I found that the best way to speed up internet downloads was to get an account with a decent ISP. There is usually little you can do to your PC that will make any significant difference.

      Download Reistry Healer at:

      http://www.fixregistry.com/regheal/index.htm

This program will fix the registry issues.

I would recommend you delete any Folders & Files manually. I’ve never trusted an automatic file deletion. They always seem to delete stuff they shouldn’t.

To speed up Internet Downloads, go broadband. DSL, Cable, or Satellite (if you have to). Then you can test and tweak it up to par at http://www.broadbandreports.com. They have lots of tools and tests that will make it scream better.

XP comes with Disk Cleanup, which can help with the cleanup.
Click Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Cleanup.

The best is to run a combination of System Mechanic and Ad-aware to have the system cleanedup and well maintained.

RegClean is a small application made available by Microsoft that analyzes Windows Registry keys that are stored in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT in Windows
