For IE--Tools--Internet Options--on the General tab click Clear History button--click Yes (and while you're at it, click the Delete Files button--lcick OK; then. click the Content tab--click the AutoComplete--click Clear Forms--OK--then click Clear Passwords--OK.

For Firefox--click Tools--click Options--click Privacy on the left side of the window--click Clear beside History, Saved Form Information and Saved Passwords--be sure to click OK to finalize your choices.

I don't use Opera or Netscape, but try looking under Tools--Options.

First thing is when you "clear history", you need to close all your browser windows that are opened. Otherwise it retains the autocomplete for web address until you do so. Then reopen Internet Explorer and you should find that it no longer performs the autocomplete.

To prevent it from happening, go to Tools|Internet Options and click the Content tab. Click the button that says Autocomplete. Uncheck Web Addresses and anything else that you don't want to use autocomplete for. You may want to clear your "forms" and "passwords" if you feel it's necessary. Just a word of advice, make sure you know what your passwords are before you clear that one.

You can verify that the history has been removed in IE by hitting Ctrl-H which shows your history. This is also a way of manually removing some entries.

Delete files and cookies as well in the internet options.

Tools--->. internet options..
Clicking the Delete Files with delete the Temp Internet Files
Clicking the Delete Cookies button will delete
the stored cookies..
then clicking the Clear History button should clear the history content...
Also you can set it to Zero ...instead of the default 20 days....
And also like they say...
Clcik the content Tab...
Click the AutoComplete button..
and choose your preference...
checking/unchecking the options as you like..

Also click the advanced tab...
and Check the Clear Temp Internet Files when browser closes in the Security Section of the options...

BTW....
There is this small utility ( Freeware ) which could do the job and much more ...its called
Crap cleaner or ccleaner for short...
you can download it either from
www.filehippo.com or
www.ccleaner.com

hope it helps..

TweakUI from Powertools and MS is a good utility to help you achieve this. You download the software from http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_download.asp?fid=2803&fileidx=1#
right click on the downloaded file and hit install. Your Control Panel will have the short cut and you can configure Tweak UI to do all you want!
