Clearing system caches

By conductor64 ·
I'd like to clear my system of usage logs. I can't find it in the help section.

To delete the system logs that are located under the Event Viewer you must have administrative privlages.

These files are located in the folder %root%\winnt\system32\config folder. (The windows folder if you are running XP.)

If you would like to delete the DNS cache (like I do at work sometimes) you can access the DOS shell by going to start > run > cmd and at the %root% prompt (usually c:\) you can type ipconfig /flushdns. (For Windows 2000 and newer).

If you are using Windows 98 you can accomplish this same task by using winipcfg.

Hope this helps.
