      Paul,
If you want to share one INET connection you can look at using Proxy server, or another third party app that will mask your internal network. As far as devices, a hub with the appropriate cabling (if all computers are in the same building/Room) will join you all together nicely.

      Hello Paul,
In order to set up a network between 20 workstations and a server u may need a hub, & cables(Enhanced CAT 5 will do) & Ethernet card on all systems.
U basically don’t need any peripherals but yes to connect to net u will need a modem. In order to share an account, u need a proxy server. U can start by downloading winproxy (trial version) from http://www.winproxy.com
      It’s very easy.

Do yourself a favor and look at two products from Artisoft. LANtastic will let you network 20 users comfortably without an NT server. I-Share will allow up to 32 users to share a simultaneous single connection to the net. If there is a workgroup logic to the layout of your network, consider a few switches branching to workgroup hubs for performance improvement.

you need of course 20 computer/20 network cards/network hub with more than 20 port connection/hub cable for every workstation, cable length will depend for each location, each cable needs 2 RJ connectors for PC to hub connection/ 1 fast modem for centralized proxy connection/proxy software from winproxy or cproxy .. whatever your preference but please check if NT has its own proxy software configuration before downloading.

      * Configure a unique TCP/IP settings for each workstation.

      * Make sure to configure each workstation internet connection to point to the NT server. Please check proxy settings of Internet explorer for each client.
