Client32 w/i MS client for MS networks

By lelton ·
Question,

When you have two requesters installed (Client32 and MS Client for MS Networks) on a Win98 machine, the priority ALLWAYS seems to be setup to access the MS network with whatever protocol is bound to it.

How can a shift the priority from the MS client to the Novell client ?

There are lots of resources on how to do this under an NT workstation, like the link below

http://www.ithowto.com/novell/clientspeed.htm#3

But I don't know the registry hacks to do this on a Windows 98 workstation.

Any ideas here ?

When I say priority, I am saying, how can you speed up the accessing of the Netware resources, so file access and database access is nice and fast as a bare Client32 install and then when we access the MS network its services will be slower or on lower priority.

right click network neiborhood and select properties then look at the box that says primary network logon and select the netware client you are using two possible types are
microsoft client for netware networks or
novell client for netware but ifyou install the novell client it should have been changed automaticly

Client32 w/i MS client for MS networks

Hi DrSean,

Hum, I have already done that but my applications still seem to go out on the MS Network side first before making the request on the Netware side. This is true for all our workstations (15 nodes). Apparently this is a very common problem on NT and there are some updates to the MUD (something like that), which is the area that manages which protocols/clients go first in a multi protocol/client installed machine.

Unfortunatly I do not know where these updates are for Win98.

There also are a pile of reg hacks that can be done on NT to priorise which client/protocol goes first. But I does know them on a Win98 machine.

Thanks for answering though,
Les
