Clock problem

By yarik ·
My system clock stops working every time power is down. When power is up again clock starts again from the moment where it left. I would suspect BIOS battary failure, but no BIOS settings are reset when I switch power. What couses the problem?

Possibility..do you have an anti-virus program running? Sometimes they will interfere with the clock - also your clock may "loose" some time - just readjust and reset the proper time. Mine will "loose" time - it is due to my anti-virus program - and I prefer to have a slow clock rather than a virus! :)

Sorry, didn't help, clock didn't loose time, it stopped ticking when power was down

I would still replace the system battery, it might be low enough where it starts eliminating things to save.

I believe the battery on your mother board will need to be replaced. I had the same problem with a new board I bought and once I replaced the battery, the problem was solved. Please let me know if this does not help and we can work on it more.

Battery or RTC on the motherboard? Replace the battery to see if that is the problem. Last I checked, a battery was cheaper than a motherboard.
