Cloning windows 7

By Dusterman ·
I have been using Acronis for many years to clone hard drives.
.
I tried my first Windows 7 clone .. .. it was a no go.
.
I used another machine to clone with but still no go.
.
I started the main drive in the second position .. .. still no go.
.
Being a Dell unit I tried to clone using a Gateway ..no go :-(
.
Thank heavens this was merely a check on my skill level and my cloning programs [ nun cloned this drive :-( ] but I am very frustrated .. ..
.
Does anyone have an answer or any ideas ?
.
Mike

I use Paragon to backup my Windows 7 ...

I did notice some of my older software I used to image hard drive didn't work on my Windows 7....as it turned out, I needed the 64 bit version as that's what I am running....my other imaging software was 32 bit & wouldn't run on it.

You might be running into the same 32 vs. 64 bit thing I was.

You always have to check compatibility and system requirements.

windows 7 itself

Why not use windows 7's back and restore feature to create a system image? It's working well.

Also, you can setup WDT 2010 to capture image and deploy it to others.
