cmd commands won't work

By Nagelfar ·
When I open cmd, and e.g. type PING or TRACERT it just returns a message saying:
"ping" wasn't recognized as an internal or external command, a program or a batch file...

I've set my firewall to allow all ICMP traffic, but it doesn't work..

Can someone please help me??
(my router is a zyxel prestige 2000)

Ping not recognized as internal or external command

by akdaga In reply to cmd commands won't work

Your system has lost the setting for ping.
Here's how to fix it:
1. Right click 'My Computer', select 'Properties', click on the 'Advanced' tab
2. Select 'Enviornment Variables'
3. Select 'PATH' from the list of system variables and edit

set PATH to c:\windows\system32
