Today I bought a new hard drive for one of my computers and installed it. After the installation, as I was starting up the computer, I recieved the following error messages: “Floppy disk(s) fail 80” and “CMOS checksum error – Defaults loaded” After recieving this message I restarted the computer but all that happened was the computer powered on and emitted a long beep until it shut itself off. Nothing appeared on my screen. After trying a restart again, and getting the same results, I opened up my computer, set the CMOS jumper to clear, and cleared it. I then powered the computer back on only to recieve the same error messages as before and then after restarts, the same long beep and shutdown. Does anyone know what could possibly be happening with my computer?
–UPDATE–
I replaced the CMOS battery with a new one from Radio Shack, and still no luck. I tried again to enter in the correct values in the BIOS setup. After saving theses settings and restarting the computer, it again emitted one long beep and turned itself off. I had to reset the CMOS with the jumper again before it would power on correctly. Once the computer powered up I again saw the same two errors as listed above. Do you think I am going to have to replace my MoBo? If so do you have any idea where i should look for a model number?
Thanks Again,
Trey
