Cmos Serial Number

The CMOS does not have a serial number. When you replace a Compaq systemboard, they preprogram it with the system serial number that was provided when you ordered the replacement board.

You basically need to go into the bios and update that serail number with the system board serial number.

HP does this with some of thier computers as well.

Cmos serial number mismatch"

this usually means that your using a bios upgrade
that does match the series your flashing. those boards may have minor deferances in the chip set
or cmos size. but if they work! you can still use them!

hope thishelps
