CMS Enhancement-PCMCIA CD ROM DRIVER

by T Wilson In reply to CMS Enhancement-PCMCIA CD ...

When is the cd drive not being detected? When you are trying to switch to the cd drive during Windows setup?

When you tell it to start with cd rom support (from win98 startup disk) does it show that it's running through all the different driverstrying to find one for your drive, and then giving you an error message "file not found" right before it takes you to the a: drive?

Is it being detected during POST or in your bios? Speaking of bios....is your cd drive being auto detected? Can you change it yourself to show a cd drive? If you can, change it in your bios manually to show it as a cd drive. Sometimes if it's auto-detected, it still won't show up and load drivers when you use the win98 startup disk. Weird but true!

Let me know if this helps!

If the above doesn't help, go to the Microsoft Knowledge Base and take a look at Knowledge Base Article Q189526
