CNAME RECORD PROBLEM

By rguess ·
I'm having a problem in NT 4.0 DNS. I need to make a website come up without the www. I know that tou use a CNAME record for this, but I cannot figure out how. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

It is called an A record. http://www.jhsoft.com/help/rec_A.htm
All details are in RFC1035 http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1035.txt

The answer to this is simply the method in which you create the A record.

Inside dnsadmin, rightclick on your domain and select new record. For record type select A Record, leave the hostname blank, and enter your www server IP address in the Host IP Address field. Creat the PTR Record if you want and click okay.

You're done.
