what is the name of the present version of cobol

what is the scope for cobol programmer when so many types of programming languages have come into use.

can one take learning cobol now and expect to get
immediate employment in the software companies.

2) scope? you mean employment opportunities?
3) nope. you'll have more luck getting employment with a company that has a mainframe supporting an older application. very little programming is being done today with cobol.

depends on the vendor - I think IBM's current mainframe flavor is "Enterprise COBOL for z/OS V3R4"

COBOL programs are still running a lot of corporate systems

Your job opportunities are with various companies' IT departments, not with software development companies.

Although i cannot garuntee an immediate development possibility but if u are already in COBOL maintenance or development you can see a whole new world of COBOL for modern world competing any latest programming language.
