code 41 error on cd/dvd drive

By doubles21 ·
My cd/dvd drive doesn't work and reports the error, code 41. It is a single drive and I have tried updating the driver, rolling back the driver and deleteing the upper and lower filters in the registry but that hasn't helped. Can anyone suggest anything else that might help?
Many Thanks.

code 41 error on cd/dvd drive

only thing I can suggest off hand is checking the registry filter entries for any .bak backup versions and ensure the changes are actually saved after you close regedit...there is also the chance the drive is actually borked though! Have you tried it on another port or machine?

Have you tried using a Boot Disc of some kind

To make sure that the drive is actually working?

I would suggest something like one of the Live Linux's like Knoppix to boot from to see if the drive is actually working.
