codec problem

By agoldstein7 ·
I downloaded a video file with an eso.ts extension. It will not play either video or sound in Media player. How to I get this video to play?

1) The video is dead, ESO.ts is a common movie pirating group on IRC channels. If you got he movie from Kazaa, Fileshare or mIRC, chances are it's a dud.

It may have been recorded in an asf codec (common for TV and porn) in which case you will need to download a player or codecs.
Codecshack and moviecodecs.com are a good resource.

YOu can also download DIVX player from DivX.com along with thier codec packs, but MediaPlayer 9 seems to have these now.

Div X will also have links to download codec identifiers that will analyze the file and identify Audio/Video compression and Codecs and match it up that way. 99.999% of the time, it's a waste of time, the movie's dead or you just got an incomplete download.
