How do I get my colours back to 256? Machine won't apply higher than 16!!!

Hi,

You'll need to locate, download and install the appropriate drivers for you video card.

You'll find them at your video card's manufacturers' website or at

http://www.driverguide.com/

In addition to Tim's response;

If your video is AGP, you need to make sure that you have the AGP mini-port driver installed for your MB / chipset.

Install the mini-port driver before you install the video driver.

Either you are stuck in Safe mode, or the videocard driver is corrupt.

I am assuming that you have scanned for viruses with your AntiVirus program.

As TheChas stated is good, but here is another tidbit. Remove the adapter from Device Manager, unplug (turn off your machine), then plug it back in, and let the system re-recognize the hardware. This has worked with me on several occasions with various devices.
