Com hangs and reboots. Graphic card not running after reboot.

By bluezben ·
Hi all. I am using Acer Aspire X3990 Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2310 CPU @ 2.9GHz. Ram of 4GB. operating Windows 7 Home Premium x64-bit. My graphics card is nVdia GeForce GT 530. I bought it in 2011. Its been two years.

Recently, my computer hangs sometimes on its own. It auto-reboots and then the graphic card would not be detected. Instead, it would be my build in graphics Intel(R) HD Graphics.

My HDMI cable is connected directly to the graphic card from the monitor. I connect a VGA cable directly from the motherboard to the monitor.

Does anyone knows whats wrong with my computer?

The GPU has probably died

the GT 530 is a 30 dollar card, just replace it.

I know the 5 series was known to use a lot of power and run hot. I don't know if the 530 is just a rebrand of an earlier chip (It looks like a low power version of the 9800), but GPU's do die from heat.
Video Memory is particularly vulnerable to heat.
