COM+ Error after applying GPO for WSUS

By christophz ·
I Installed a WSUS server on a Windows Server 2003 in my domain (AD W2k3). After creating a GPO with information about the WSUS Server and update information, and applying it to a Windows 2000 Server, I get the following Event-Log entries on my Windows 2000 Server:

Type: Warning
Event Source: EventSystem
Event Category: Firing Agent
Event I 4098
Date: 12.08.2005
Time: 11:23:03
User: N/A
Computer: MEWET05
Description:
The COM+ Event System failed to fire the StartShell method on subscription {2F519218-754D-4CFE-8DAA-5215CD0DE0EB}. The subscriber returned HRESULT 80010108.

The same error comes with a variety of methods:

StartShell
Logon
Logoff
DisplayLock
DisplayUnlock
StartScreenSaver
StopScreenSaver
etc.

This only happens on Windows 2000 machines. My Windows XP and Server 2003 are fine, even after applying the same GPO.

Can anyone help?

I am pretty sure there is a COM+ Hotfix for that issue.

Call Microsoft.

Christophz, I see that you got one answer to this problem. The poster said "I am pretty sure there is a hotfix for this problem. Call Microsoft."
Since I am having the same exact problem, I am wodndering if this post did provide the solution to this problem. Did you find out if there is a hotfix for the problem? And if so, how did you obtain it?
You can contact me directly at "jsmart10@pacbell.net" if you'd like. I apppreciate any help you might give me - I'm aware that it's asking a lot.

Do you also get the error message in event viewer wuaueng.dll corrupt? If you do, run this on client computer was affected:

net stop wuauserv
regsvr32 /u wuaueng.dll
delete the folder c:\winnt\softwaredistribution
c:\winnt\windowsupdate ( both file)
regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
net start wuauserv
wuauclt.exe /resetauthorization /detectnow

then reboot system
- Go to services and restart Automatic update services - if you get the error message on this point you have to run the file call "win2ksvchost.reg". I do have file, i can't download here, send me your contact info.
