Com Port 2

By HB_BC ·
Why in system properties under Ports (COM & LPT) I have no listing of COM port 2 for my modem? If I select modems properties it will list it using com port 2 for my modem.

That's OK - if you have an internal modem this should pose no problem. I take it you have an internal modem?

The COM ports listed in device mangler are often physical ports (ie. actual ports which are dedicated to a serial device). On my laptop for example, I have a physical COM1, but no COM2 installed. My modem, a PC card, is using COM2's IRQ and MEM resources, however, because the physical port is absent. It's only a worry if it's causing you another problem..

I do have a PCI Internal Modem. So a physical COM Port would be one on the motherboard and not one as a add on, like a PCI card.
