Combatting Gartner Group

by penguinsrule . Updated 24 years, 10 months ago

Greetings:

Gartner Group has such a reputation with IT leadership across the nation that whatever they say is taken as gospel and generally left unchallenged. At times their words can have a dramatic effect on the industry.

A case inpoint is their treatment of OpenVMS. There is no other operating system that can beat OpenVMS for uptime, stability, security, availability, and data integrity.

OpenVMS has increased in terms of Revenues, etc over the last two years. In my 14 years as a VMS adminstrator, people have been wanting to get off of VMS during my entire career, but then they find that the grass isn’t always greener.

What can be done to combat these articles written to blast our OS.

I want to see what recourse the OpenVMS community has.

Now, I see that Oracle is under fire. So, Does Gartner know of a better database? or is there funny money involved..
