Comcast ISP & Wireless connections

Comcast Cable Modem issue with Netgear wireless router

I?ve just signed up and had installed the Comcast Triple (Phone, Internet, TV) package

For the internet / phone Comcast supplied an Arris Tm 602g/ct modem. This is a combination modem with internet and voip in one unit.

For wireless I have a netgear wireless router wgt624 v2. At first I couldn?t get this router to work. Then I read the posts bout cloning the MAC address in the router. This router is now configured with the right MAC address and seems to work for one wireless connection.

Here is the issue:
When two or more devices are connected via the wireless router the one of connections gets interrupted .

For example:
I have a desktop computer connected wirelessly and then I try to wirelessly connect my lap top. At first it appears to work, (execpt the network manager says not connected) and I get connected. A very short while later the laptop connection is lost.

I then diconnect the desktop wireless connection and reconnect the laptop and get connected, this time the network manager indicates connected.

Basically, it seems I can only have one device connected via wireless at a time.

I have tested this over and over. It seems to be an issue.

Is there a solution?

Might connectiong a non Comcast cable modem, one that does not have voip, reslove this?

That is , I need to get more than one device wirelessly connected or this comcast ISP is not worth the cost, not to mention the time and trouble.

Comcast offered to sell me a gateway for 150.00 that will allow 5 devices to connected wirelessly at a time. But this seems like a huge cost.

I think Comcast is trying to charge for every device connected to the comcast internet connection.
