    Command Exceeds 255 Charaters

    Locked

    by boak ·

This is the message I get at the console when I type in ATSART6 to load Arcserve.
Prior to this I had done a VRepair and also Fixed the NDS using DSRepair. Everything else works. Any ideas.

check to be sure that sys:system\astart6.ncf is not corrupt. and that any ncf files that it refereces are not corrupt.
you may want to check astop6.ncf also and any ncf files it may reference.

astart6.ncf should look something like this:
      Search Add SYS:\ARCSERVE.6\NLM
      Search Add SYS:\ARCSERVE.6\UTILITY
      LOAD SYS:\ARCSERVE.6\NLM\CSLOADER @SYS:\ARCSERVE.6\ASCONFIG.INI SECTION=LOADER
The before last line continues on the last line (due tothe techrepublic window size),
so there’s only 3 lines in total in the astart6.ncf. In total there’s 142 chars (incl spaces), but it shouldn’t matter.
Check your ncf and compare it with the above.

It sounds like one on the lines in the astart6.ncf file is corrupt or there is an embedded or special character inserted somewhere in one of the lines. I would recreate the file manually since the NCF file is only a text file.
