Not all programs run as services so you will need to edit the registry. Start –> Run –> Regedit –> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE –> SOFTWARE –> MICROSOFT –> WINDOWS –> CURRENT VERSION, then look in RUN, RUN ONCE, and SERVICES. Then the entries you don’t need.

Another alternative is a utility program for Win2000. This program makes it as easy as msconfig, and it’s free. Find it here:

You may consider using Startup Control Panel from MIke Lin. This is a nifty utility that gives you more options and control than msconfig does. As far as I know, it works on all flavors of Windows. You can find it here: http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml
