Communications port drivers

By thejet ·
My computer shows this window: Com port 1 is not allowing computer to go into standby. Try rebooting computer or install newest driver.

Where do I find the latest driver and how do I install it?

Thanks for your help.

Well the obvious thing would be to go to the makers site and download the latest drivers. That could be the M'Board Maker if you have a "White Box" or the system maker if you have a "Off the Shelf Box."

As you didn't say what OS the error is coming up in it starts getting harder from this point on but assuming you are using some form of Windows XP with the latest service packs and patches if the com port in question has nothing connected it should be turned off by Windows and if there is something connected you could try downloading the latest drivers for that as you possibly have a software clash causing this problem which is really quite common with a lot of the older drivers not being Digitally Signed with XP.

A bit more information wouldn't hurt here. If you could supply the M'Board Make/Model or System Model and if there is anything connected to that Com Port and OS being used it would make it possible to answer your question.

You can add comments to the bottom of your question so you do not need to post any different questions just add to the existing one.
