comp driver error message Win 98 startup

Every time I stry to startup Windows 98 I get a message that there is a compression error on a nonexistent drive on my computer suggesting that I might want to correct the error…I hit the OK button (only option) and it restarts the computer and so it goes over and over…cannot
figure out why or what to do about it
