Compaq Evo N410c Sound Distortion

by joggievandermerwe . Updated 17 years, 1 month ago

I recently acquired a Compaq Evo N410c (http://h18002.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11375_div/11375_div.HTML) from my company. The sound is distorted in the sense that it is at a higher pitch than it should be. Thus, when playing CD’s through my external player, or using Skype, the sound is too high (probably at a higher speed than it should be). This could be because my company formatted the laptop before giving it to me and soundcard specific software wasn’t loaded. According to the website quoted above, it’s a Compaq Premier Sound soundcard. If a new driver will fix this, does anyone know where I could obtain a driver?
THANKS!
