I doubt that the power supply is at the root of a freezing problem.

More likely a RAM issue for any hardware related cause.

Have you tried cleaning up the hard drive and checking for ad / spy ware?

Next, I would give System File Checker a try.
For detailed information, just search for sfc in help and support.

I have run across this in XP on a lot of different machines.

Some crap going on in the background will keep the thing locked up for minutes.

Turn off System Restore:
Right Click on My Computer and get properties.
System Restore Tab

Disable Indexing of the drives for fast search:
Right Click Hard Drive and uncheck the box at the bottom. Say yes for all sub folders. If a message window comes up and says it can't do a file. Tell it to ignore all.

If it checks email or goes on the internet. Check for creepies, there are spyware, and tool bar cruds that download a cabfile every time you boot and log on:

Download, update, and run the following.

Your Antivirus Software

This item will not update through the program. You have to download the new version.

Look for the file in English CWShredder.exe

StartUpList is information only. Startup, Registery, and others. You can?t fix anything from within the program. But it does tell you what is going on.

Hijack This:

Hijack This
This program is useful in that it shows what is currently loading on startup. You must know what is good and what is bad. Once you check it and fix it is gone. So be sure. Items you are not sure of do a Google search for them.

Or check here:

Run Your Antivirus again

Download and install all OS updates.

Optimize your hard drive.

I have had to boot into safe mode and run these.

Good Luck Lee
