Compaq Management

By Ralgha ·
Here is the problem:

I?ve got a small network of 25 clients and 3 servers in one NT 4.0 domain. All PCs are Compaqs. I found a program called Compaq Insight Manager that is made for monitoring the network. I?ve installed agents on all PCs and CIMon my machine. When I scan IP range it finds all the PCs on network but then all clients are disappearing and only servers stay. What?s more ? servers are shown as unavailable. What did I do wrong?

Compaq Management

OK, Ralgha,

Let?s see:
As you describe I can consider two things ? whether you don?t have SNMP installed on clients and servers, or ? you don?t know the right community string.
If there?s no SNMP ? install it. The default community string is public.
If you don?t know community string ? go to server (assuming you have administrative rights), right click Network->Properties. Go to Services Tab-> SNMP->Properties->Security and take a look at community.
Then is Insight Manager right click onneeded server, select Setup (or smth like this, I don?t remember exactly) and type in this string in appropriate field. Refresh and All should be OK.
Clients can be found by right clicking DC and choosing Clients.

Hope this helps.
