I have a compaq presario 700z that has been so bogged down that I decided to reformat and reinstall. The laptop came with a “quick restore” disk set. There are three disks in all. I have the laptop set to boot from the cd drive. The quick restore disks apparently do the reformatting and reinstalling all in one shot. The only problem is that the laptop shuts down in the middle of the process. The battery is very old and wont stay on unless it is plugged in. I can’t figure out why the laptop would shut down during the middle of this process even when it is plugged in. Anyone have any idea how I can get this operating system to reinstall?
