Compaq SmartStart !MDG00EA.CFG Wanted

By haysys ·
I am configuring a Compaq Proliant 2000 server for a customer. I am using SmartStart 5. I have erased the system configuration and have installed Windows NT server with SmartStart. When I press the F10 key on start up I can display the devices. It has a Madge Smart 16/4 Ringnode EISA Token Ring card in slot 2. But it is not being recognised. When I tried to configure it, at one point I was prompted for a driver named: !MDG00EA.CFG. I cannot find this on the Compaq web site or at Madge or the Internet. I have contacted Compaq and they said that I must get it from Madge. Madge have not replied to my request. Can anyone please supply this?

Try this:
Madge Networks - Network Card and Adapter Drivers
Support Phone - (800)-654-2661
Support Email - Technical Support Request
Drivers - http://www.madge.com/Connect/Downloads/Software/
Linux Drivers (Linux Hardware Database) -
http://www.LinHardware.com/db/searchproduct.cgi?manufname=Madge&catid=4

I hope it would help.

Thanks, but for this number of points I want the exact URL from which I can download the driver. I do not have authority to phone Madge in the US from the UK. I do not have an e-mail address for Madge but I have filled in their web site "request forhelp" from which I have had no reply. As I said above I have tried Internet. Your last URL was invalid but it seems to be at ZDNET which I have already searched. It is not a Linux driver (my final operating system will be Windows NT Server) but is aCompaq SmartStart hardware driver needed to make the device visible to whatever operating system is finally installed.

Go to:
http://www.madge.com/connect/downloads/software/content.asp?Article=753&SubArea=
Download the self-extracting file 61nt4.exe, and than after extracting - you will find drivers files including .dll and OEMsetup.
If this driver doesn't matchthe driver, which you are after, go to:
http://www.madge.com/connect/downloads/software/Archive.asp
find the proper driver, download it and extract.
I hope this information will let you to download the proper driver without any problems.

!MDG00EA.CFG - it isn't a driver(look for *.dll), it's a configuration file.

Thanks, there was a space in the URL when I copied it which I have now removed and it worked. I have downloaded 61nt4.exe and it contains the Windows NT driver for the Madge card.

It does not contain !MDG00EA.CFG which is what I need. Sorry to mislead you by calling it a driver. It is a Compaq SmartStart configuration file that I am promted for when I press the F10 key on booting up the PC going into Compaq configuration and try to add an entry for a Token Ring adapter for a "Madge Smart 16/4 Ringnode EISA Token Ring".
