Are there USB smartmedia card readers
compatibile with windowME?

Are there any other software/hardware compatible problems?

I have only 7 days to return my Dell 8100
under 30 day warranty. They say they can't
get windows 98 revised to replace ME.

If you backed up your data just FDISK the drive & re-install 98. Win98 will not install over Win ME. Thats the easiest way, without returning the pc. If you like the pc just fdisk it.

Whoa! Before you do answer 1 make sure that there are drivers for 98 for all the components of your system. Just because it works with WinME doesn't mean that it is Win98 compatible. Have a look at Shuttletech.com for a smartmedia driver or talk to them they are very helpful. Shuttletech make most of the smartmedia reader chipsets but they are sold with OEM names. Additionally you may find that your PC manufacturer will NOT support Win 98 on your model of PC.
Best of luck

Check out "Sandisk USB" (about $45). I use it with WIN98 and they say it is compatible with Win2000.
Check out their web site at:
